Alumni of the University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB) in KwaZulu-Natal have joined forces with USB Executive Development (USB-ED) by facilitating the arrangement of the Master Class in Designing a Deal in Durban for the first time. The master class will take place on 1 November 2013 and will be presented by Prof Barney Jordaan who heads up the Centre for Dispute Settlement at the University of Stellenbosch Business School.
Good negotiators know that good deals start with good deal design. While deals are crafted at the table, deal design happens away from the table. During this hands-on, interactive master class, participants will be equipped to structure deals that create joint value, are sustainable and cost effective. They will also be exposed to how one can think creatively about the options, both at the table and away from it. The master class will also focus on recapping the core elements of negotiation. It will guide negotiators on how to talk to the right people and to think beyond the obvious. It will also focus on problem-solving techniques and will be case study driven.
This master class is therefore beneficial to anyone who is serious about negotiation, such as business owners and executives, managers, lawyers, accountants and others for whom negotiation is an essential part of their job or profession.
According to Willemien Law, director for Open Enrolment Programmes at USB-ED, it is of great benefit have a subject matter expert such as Prof Jordaan presenting this master class.
