Training and Development

In our 21st century world we need to learn the language, master the skills and craft the vision for a different way of life. We need again to capture what it means to get joy from serious business.  This is in essence what the following programmes are all about:

Social Capital
  • Management Programme for NPOs  – This programme for Non-profit Organisations (NPOs) is a corporate social initiative programme which aims to develop the managerial skills of NPO managers. The objective of this programme is to promote social development and education in South Africa by enhancing managerial effectiveness, service delivery and good governance within the NPO sector.
  • NPO Leadership and Strategy Programme  – This programme follows on the popular Management Programme for NPOs and offers leaders of NPOs the opportunity to reflect on how they are leading their organisation, to gain practical insights into the complexity of their organisation, and to learn how to manage it in a way that is authentic and delivers impact.

Consulting and Advisory Services

In all three focus areas of the centre’s work, namely responsible leadership, sustainability and social capital development, there is the assumption of change and transition to a future that will be very different from what we know now.  Well established and deeply instituted practices will have to change as we learn to manage the risks and adapt to the demands of a resource constrained future.  We have a tough learning curve ahead of us.  
Consulting is about being on this journey together, guided by the centre’s values:

  • Integrative: We believe that responsibility and sustainability should be an integral aspect of all forms of leadership and organisational development.

Thought Leadership

The centre offers a reflective learning space where a new generation of responsible leaders from various sectors collaborate in imagining a more sustainable future.  Thought leadership endeavours align with the following framework:

  • a systems approach to responsibility and sustainability
  • topics that are relevant and applicable to sustainability challenges in the economic, social and environmental domains
  • the development of relevant assessment and benchmarking frameworks and indicators
Research topics are generated from engagement between the centre and its various stakeholders such as advisors, associates, clients and students.  Results are disseminated through books, articles, presentations and conference papers.
