We are driven by a deep longing for business adventure. We believe in continuous transformation. That is why we became the first management development company in a business relationship with a university to obtain BEE accreditation.
Since the company's inception in 2001, transformation and empowerment has been part of our DNA. The fact that one of the Black Economic Empowerment pioneers, Ms Louisa Mojela, CEO of Wiphold, joined our board of directors, is proof of this. In 2007, USB-ED entered into a black economic empowerment (BEE) deal with businessman Vincent Raseroka and WIPHOLD, a company focusing on the empowerment of women. This was marked by the sale of 26% of USB-ED shares, with the University of Stellenbosch remaining the majority shareholder.
USB-ED is also committed to seeing our management structure and support functions fully compliant with employment equity (EE). At present, no formalised employment equity (EE) plan is in place, but our commitment to a fully compliant company is reflected in the following:
In addition, both our operational staff and members of the management team have undergone training programmes which include:
As part of our corporate social responsibility we present, in partnership with the USB Alumni Association, a Management Development Programme for Non-Profit Organisations.
