Introduction
Are you ready for 2012? Are your strategies and resources in place? Is your team ready to deliver? Are you able to meet the expectations of your stakeholders?
Positioning and leading your organisation into the new year is what now counts as an important priority. This is all happening in the midst of complex, and often chaotic, community dynamics characterised by on-going change, trauma, divisions and uncertainties.
Furthermore, your funders want to see return on investment and demonstrations of impact rather than lists of activities. In order to do this you need workable strategies that will galvanise your staff and volunteers around the sustained and effective implementation of a sound strategy.
Knowing how to do this is a critical leadership challenge. For success you need to understand and deal with the following:
- the stories that define the community that you work in
- the obstacles that may keep you from making progress
- the dynamics of change and the know-how to lead people through it
- how conflict develops and how it can be effectively addressed
- how to keep yourself focused as a leader in the midst of the daily challenges involved in running an NPO
- how to deal with the management issues that you are faced with daily
- how to develop a strategic plan to keep your organisation on course
The
NPO Leadership and Strategy Programme offered by USB Executive Development (USB-ED) is aimed at equipping NPO leaders with the skills to be better leaders of change and strategy in the midst of complex community dynamics.
What sets this intervention apart
This programme offers participants a safe space within which individual and systemic learning can take place while they engage with their own organisations, communities and leadership challenges.
Participants in previous programmes had the following to say about their experience:
- “Things can change because I have changed”
- “Systemic change starts from within”
- “Creating new language, creating a new world”
- “From stuckness to a safe place of hope, newness and potential”
The programme is made possible by the generous sponsorship of the Coca Cola Foundation and partnership with the African American Institute.
