Introduction
USB-ED in collaboration with Technoscan Centre in the USA presents a one-day know-how seminar to examine the technologies required to grow your business optimally.
Managers are perpetually overwhelmed by a global explosion of new technologies. Some of these novelties will boost their business, some will harm it. To survive and prosper, you have to choose the right technology, and you have to innovate. To make money from technological innovation requires great skill. Companies have to maximise the success rate of innovation. In practice, most fail and only some break even.
Every year trillions of rands are wasted on poor technological investments. And in many cases the resulting pollution damages the environmental and threatens the life-giving forces of nature.
To choose the right technology you have to exercise vigilance. You have to anticipate, map and track the technosphere, the global assembly of all technologies. Technological leadership is needed. This seminar equips participants with the tools to develop this.
What sets this intervention apart
Simple frameworks for exploring the emerging technological landscape will be provided, and a uniform technological language will be used to describe the different technologies. The seminar will demonstrate how to create and use an atlas of technology, and will explain the procedures for exploring the landscape. Participants will learn how to prepare a hot-list of innovation opportunities.
Who should attend
The seminar is aimed at chief technology officers, management of technology (MOT) practitioners, engineers and scientists, science and technology policy-makers, innovation managers and investment professionals.
Over the past two decades this seminar has been offered in-house to corporate clients, and has been hosted by universities and professional associations. Corporate clients include multinational companies in chemicals, diamond mining, electronics, sensors, mobile phone networks and instrumentation.
Admission requirements
Tertiary level education in engineering, science, or management of technology is recommended. Participants should preferably have English language competency at NQF level 4. They should have sufficient ability to read and comprehend learning material, and follow/participate in discussions on management issues.
